There is no magical way to make p2p works fine, its outdated technology which should be replaced with server side connection. Both hd and voobly works with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ p2p connections which makes games very laggy especially in team games. I know voobly allows total conversion mods, I was talking about multiplayer techical issues.
And no, voobly isnt just the same as hd without elo bugs, it works far better and if you got friends and want to play some total overhaul mods for aoe2 you can play them there too, aoe2hd has some restrictions for data mods that make alot of old mods incompatible and hard to impossible to recreate
